Original vector illustration and bitmat image background pattern inspired by antiquities, jewelry, fashion, architecture, textiles, ceramics, engravings, and woodblock prints. The background bitmap image was appropriated from a 19th c. Staffordshire transferware plate. Byzantine Arches is named for the high jewelry and costume jewelry aesthetic known as “Byzantine”, that was especially popular throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.
Deliverables were created for the Chicago Pride Parade float and participants for Blue Cross Blue Shield. Responsible for creating visual concept, research, execution of illustration and typographic lock up, and creating files to vendor’s specifications for deliverables.
Original wallpaper pattern inspired by antique woodblock printed wallpaper, the arts and crafts movement, aesthetic and orientalist art movements, the work of William Morris, and the work of Walter Crane. Hand drawn illustration was created for the organic line. Vector shapes were used for colors and scaleability, and to have flat regions of limited colors as seen on antique woodblock printed wallpapers. The subject matter of California poppies was chosen to evoke nostalgia and reference the work of the Greene and Greene architecture firm, and the arts and crafts movement in California.

Work completed for Veggie Grill at BC Design Haus includes seasonal holiday illustration, working with an existing sunburst art. The peas in a pod/holiday lights vine vector illustration was designed to relate to the existing holiday card image.

The subject matter of Peonies was inspired by William Morris prints, and the layout was reflected to suggest a brocade. The high contrast color palette diverges from the subtle muted nuance of the arts and crafts movement for a young hip novelty print feel.
